Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a broad topic.  Part of forgiveness is wanting other people to be the best they can be.  Father God loves us so much and desires to have a relationship with us. Father God sent His only Son, Jesus to earth so that Jesus could die for our sins and be resurrected on the third day.  Our belief in Jesus being the Messiah and forgiving of our sins is the beginning of our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Father God sent us His only Son for the forgiveness of our sins.  How much more does He expect for us to forgive those who wrong us.

Everyone on the planet has had someone they need to forgive.  Perhaps its the person who cut you off in traffic.  It may go as deep as someone who has hurt your physically.  No person on earth is guaranteed a perfect childhood.  Perhaps its someone from your childhood that you need to forgive.

Forgiveness is a choice. You may have to say outloud a hundred times that person’s name  you want to forgive. Jesus tells us we have to forgive 70 times 7.  That doesn’t mean 490 times, but that we make it a lifestyle of walking in forgiveness.

Read more about forgiveness by looking up the following scriptures:

  • Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
    Ephesians 4:32

  • For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
    Matthew 6:14

  • Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
    Luke 6:37

  • Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
    Matthew 18:21-22

  • Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
    Acts 13:38-39
