Hearing the Voice of God

This morning  as I lay awake in the bed trying to sleep, I hear in my spirit is “I want you to talk about how to hear the voice of God.”  When God tells you to do something then you know you must need to do it.  Then as I wake up this morning and I am in prayer God reminds me to speak on hearing HIs voice.  So here goes my teaching for today

Godi is made up of three persons- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Just like He is in three persons we , as humans, have three parts - spirit, soul, and body.  If you notice the similarities we both have a spirit.  The Spirit of God talks with our human spirit.  You might ask when and how.  Have you ever been driving, and you had a sense that maybe you should drive a different route? Then saw where there had been an accident on the route you may you have driven down. Maybe you had a sense that you shouldn’t eat a certain item of food?  Then later found out the food caused people to get sick. That feeling was God giving you direction.

It’s time to recognize God’s voice in our lives.  What does His voice sound like?  I was a in room the other day when the question was asked “who has ever heard the audible voice of God?”. No one in the room raised their hand. That doesn’t mean that God won’t speak in an audible voice, but it means that God often chooses to speak a different way.  His voice sounds like you.  We are to learn the difference between God's voice, our voice, and the enemy;s voice.

One way to learn to distinguish God’s voice is to spend some time with HIm.  When we build a relationship with God then we learn to hear his voice better.  This reminds me of just last night.  I was on a zoom call with a group of people.  My son comes out of his room and  asks “is Brad on the call”?  Brad is his biological father, and Joshua said “I heard his voice above my music and fan.”.  He then responds “I know the sound of my father’s voice.”.  Joshua knew the sound of his biological father because he has a relationship with him.  When we spend time with Father God we learn His heartbeat.

John 10:27-28 talk about how God’s sheep know his voice.  Those of us who God has called to be His children know the voice of Father God,  His voice in your spirit will sound a lot like your voice.  God speaks in a whisper.  His voice isn’t loud and demanding.  I challenge you to tell Jesus out loud that you love him.  Say, “JESUS I LOVE YOU!”. Then listen to what you hear in your spirit.  What did He say in return?
