Altar of God

The Altar of God

In the past 3 years I have gone to Longhorn Steakhouse several times.  Why?  Sometimes it was for celebration and dates with my hubby.  There were a few times that I would go just because I knew God wanted to tell or show me something.  Hanging on the wall of every Longhorn restaurant I have been in are a  pair of antlers. God has often used those antlers to remind me to keep my hands on the altar of God.  Why those antlers?  If you look at a picture of the ark of the covenant from the Old Testament it has antlers that look similar to the ones I have seen in that restaurant.

Of the many things I have prayed for over the years and continue to pray for are my children! I can’t change them.  I can’t be their God or Holy Spirit! I have learned to tell God what they are going through and to tell Him my concerns.  Then I tell God that I place them on His altar.

See I am reminded of Abraham when he went to sacrifice Issac.  Abraham knew God would provide.  I place my children or items that I am extremely concerned about on the altar of God because I know God will provide the answer to which I seek!

I have two boys and they have not always gotten along.  The youngest one used to feel bullied by his older brother. This was due to the oldest struggling with some bullying situations himself.  God has taken care of the bullying with the older and the youngest one had to forgive.  The youngest went for a long time (over a year) without forgiving his brother.  Then it seems out of nowhere the youngest decided to forgive. How did this happen?  It wasn’t at church and it wasn’t that us parents had preached to him.  We lived our lives and tried to be an example. I am sure that helped, But the youngest told us it was because he saw a YouTube video! Now you know that was God!  God reached the youngest right where God knew it would be the biggest blessing!  Everyday God reminds me of how awesome He is!  The Asbury song is true “there’s no wall he won’t tear down coming after you”.  Praise God for forgiveness!  Now the two brothers are closer than ever!

I challenge you to place on God’s altar the things that have been bothering you. Leave them on God’s altar and don’t pick them up again!  How do you lay them there?  You just tell God that you are leaving them on His altar. God is a friend, and He hears your prayers.
